The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday granted an interim bail to actor Darshan in the Renukaswamy murder case. He was arrested on June 11 for his alleged involvement in the crime. The actor has been granted interim bail for six months by a single-judge bench of Justice S Vishwajith Shetty. The bail was secured on medical grounds, as the actor needs to undergo surgery.

The order was reserved was the judge after hearing arguments from both the actor’s legal representative and the public prosecutor.

The state submitted medical reports in a sealed envelope from the doctors at Ballari Central Prison, where Darshan Thoogudeepa is currently incarcerated, as well as from the head of the neurology department at a government hospital in Ballari.

Darshan is allegedly suffering from numbness in his feet and he sought court’s permission to undergo surgery.

Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga, was allegedly abducted and murdered on June 8, 2024, by associates of Kannada actor Darshan. The motive for the crime is reportedly linked to Renukaswamy's alleged inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda, Darshan's long-time partner.
