In another, unrelated update, an elderly, visually impaired couple remained with the body of their 30-year-old son for four days, unaware that he had died. The distressing situation would have likely persisted if the couple's neighbours in Hyderabad's Blinds Colony had not detected a foul odour coming from the residence and alerted the police on Monday.

According to officials, the leased residence was occupied by Kaluva Ramana, a retired government employee, and his wife, Shantikumari, together with their younger son, Pramod.

According to news agency IANS, the 30-year-old was accused of being an alcoholic and had been abandoned by his wife, who took both of their girls with her.
