The much-awaited Agra Metro is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi before Holi 2024. The launch event of the metro services in the city of Taj is likely to take place in the first week of March at PAC Ground or Ramlila Maidan in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. 

Agra Metro Route 

The six-kilometre priority corridor of Agra Metro, constructed by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), will be started by March. The planned track of Agra Metro will span 30 kilometres, with 14 kilometres from Sikandra Tiraha to TDI Mall and 16 kilometres from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar.

Agra Metro Ticket Price

The Agra Metro fare will range from Rs 10 to Rs 60 and the metro can also be booked for birthday or other celebrations. The metro will have a maximum speed of 90 km per hour, but will run at 80 km per hour. There will be a total of 32 metros, each with three coaches, and they will be available in five to seven minutes.

Agra Metro Latest Updates 

The UPMRC team is conducting trials of the metro on the underground track, which is in the final stages. The team is also working on the 24 km track, which includes Sikandra T-point to Mankameshwar Temple and Cantt Station to Kalindi Vihar track. 

The work is being done with four tunnel boring machines and the target is to finish the metro work by 2025. The construction work of the second corridor will begin in two months. The metro depot in PAC Ground has been built for Rs 112 crore. The total cost of the metro project is Rs 8,379 crore.
