Agra Metro Connectivity: Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) is taking another step for the convenience of passengers. In a major boost to infrastructure, Agra Cantt and Raja Ki Mandi railway stations will be directly connected to the metro station for which a 12 metre wide pathway will be built. This work is likely to begin soon and will make movement easier for passengers, jagran.com reported.

Agra Cantt Railway Station is in the second corridor of the metro. UPMRC has started the work on it. A total of 10 stations will be built on Sultanpura Road and MG Road of which seven stations will be on MG Road.

12-metre Wide Pathway Will Be Constructed At Both Railway Stations

More than 25 thousand passengers travel from Agra Cantt station every day. Eight to nine thousand people come to drop off passengers. It is easy to go from one platform to another. UPMRC will build a pathway to connect the metro station to the railway station. It will be 12 metres wide. This will enable passengers to reach the platform directly. Similarly, an underground metro station has been built outside Raja Ki Mandi railway station. A pathway will be built here too. The station will be directly connected to the metro station, jagran.com reported.

An official of UPMRC said that in the first phase, pathways are being built at these two stations. Other metro stations are not so close to the railway station.

Work On Building Pathway Under MG Road Is Complete

A pathway is being built to connect one side to the other in front of the Agra College ground. The work on the 36 metre long pathway has been completed. Now boxes are being installed. The work has been done without digging hence, will not cause any problem in the movement of passengers.

Elevated Metro Stations On National Highway 19 

Three elevated metro stations will be built on National Highway-19. UPMRC is carrying out digging work using three rig machines. This work will be completed in one and a half years.
