The Allahabad High Court has expressed serious concern over male gym instructors training female trainees without adequate safety measures to ensure their safety and dignity.

The HC flagged the concern while hearing a plea by a gym trainer accused of harassing, using caste-based slurs against a woman. A bench of Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav was hearing an appeal filed by gym trainer Nitin Saini.

The appellant is accused of pushing and using filthy language against a female trainee, using caste-based slurs. The accused appellant has been booked under the provisions of the SC-ST Act as well as the IPC for the above-mentioned insulting acts.

The case involves an incident under the Brahmpuri police station in Meerut. In her statement recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC, the woman has claimed that the appellant had made a pornographic video of her friend and was sending it to the said friend.

Taking into consideration the allegations levelled against the appellant, the court said that the alleged acts may also be punishable offences under Sections 354 and 504 of the IPC. The court said, "It is a matter of grave concern that at present male gym instructors are training women without adequate safety measures to ensure their safety and dignity."\

The court further directed the concerned investigating officer to file a personal affidavit considering the above circumstances. The court said, "It should be mentioned in the affidavit whether the gym run by the appellant was duly registered under the law? Has the appellant been arrested in the present case or not? Are the trainers in the gym women or not?" The High Court will now hear the case on September 8.
