Amethi Teacher Family Murder:  The key suspect in the murder of a family of four in Amethi's Ahorwa Bhawani sustained a bullet injury after he tried to snatch the weapon of a policeman during the scene recreation, Dainik Jagran reported on Saturday. Chandan Verma, who allegedly plotted the Amethi family massacre, was being taken to Ahorwa Bhawai to recreate the crime scene late Friday night when he suddenly attempted to overpower a sub-inspector and snatched his service revolver.

In the retaliatory attempt to neutralise the threat to the police team, Shivratanganj police station in-charge Sachchidanand shot Chandan his right leg, police officials said. The incident took place in the limits of Mohanganj police station near Vindhya Deewan canal, a Dainik Jagran report stated.

Amethi SP Harendra Kumar said that Chandan was taken to a nearby CHC for treatment, from where he was referred to the district hospital. Based on the information by Chandan, the police have recovered a country-made pistol and a bullet motorcycle UP 33 BU 4576.

Verma was arrested near a toll plaza in Noida while he was attempting to flee to Delhi, police said. He was taken to recover the gun and motorcycle used in the murders when the incident took place.

Sunil Kumar, a government school teacher, his wife Poonam Bharati and two young daughters - Drishti and Suni, aged six and one were shot dead in the Bhawani Nagar area of Amethi on Thursday. The assailants fired seven shots at the family killing everyone on the spot before fleeing the spot, police said.

Later it was revealed that the couple had a scuffle with Chandan Verma and Poonam had filed an FIR against him, warning of life threats. A WhatsApp status of the key suspect, in which he wrote 'Five people will be killed, I will show you' has been doing rounds on social media.
