In a major push to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, Adani Defence and Aerospace has announced plans to ramp up ammunition production at its Kanpur facility. The company will also begin manufacturing missiles and large-calibre ammunition, alongside expanding its portfolio of high-tech combat equipment, including drones, bulletproof jackets, helicopters and fighter aircraft.

Addressing journalists via video conference, company CEO Ashish Rajvanshi highlighted the shifting nature of modern warfare.

“In recent conflicts, borders have not been crossed by infantry nor by fighter aircraft. Today, wars are fought with drones, information systems, machine learning and AI. In the future, drones will dominate the battlefield, followed by autonomous robots capable of decision-making,” he said.

The company will invest Rs 7,000 crore over the next few years, with $1 million (Rs 8,80,00,000 approx.) earmarked for missile production at the Kanpur facility. Rajvanshi added that government-backed loan facilities, earlier unavailable for defence projects, will now provide fresh impetus to India’s defence manufacturing.

Adani Defence’s expansion aligns with India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047, with the defence sector at the core of its growth strategy.
