With the rising influx of devotees to Ayodhya, security at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex has been significantly intensified. Enhanced measures now ensure a thorough, multi-layered screening process for visitors, supported by increased manpower and advanced equipment.

Previously, general visitors were screened through baggage scanners only once, at the entry point of the Ram Janmabhoomi path. However, they are now subjected to a second round of screening after depositing their mobile phones and personal belongings at the Passenger Facility Centre. The final check, via Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMDs), remains in place before entry into the Ram Temple — bringing the total to three security checks for general visitors.

Security arrangements for VIPs have also been upgraded. Ahead of Ram Navami, the state police headquarters dispatched additional equipment and resources to Ayodhya. These included 10 new baggage scanners, 25 DFMDs, five drones, handheld metal detectors, and other surveillance tools.

The installations have been deployed strategically along the Ram Janmabhoomi path and at VIP entry gates 2 (Rangmahal barrier) and 3 (Ram Path). Notably, Gate 3, which previously lacked a baggage scanner, has now been equipped with one.

The number of baggage scanners along the Ram Janmabhoomi path has increased to 16 — equal to the number of DFMDs at security point D-1. Construction of additional scanning lanes beyond the Passenger Facility Centre has also contributed to tighter screening protocols.

Currently, over 3,000 personnel from various security agencies are deployed to oversee the complex, supported by drone surveillance. SP Security Balaramachari Dubey emphasised that the bolstered security setup has significantly improved both vigilance and visitor management. “Ensuring a smooth and secure darshan experience for devotees remains our top priority,” he said.
