The Ram Darbar idols Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, is scheduled for June 5. This momentous occasion marks a significant chapter in spiritual devotion and cultural heritage. As anticipation builds for the sacred event, sculptor Satyanarayan has offered a glimpse into the meticulous preparations behind crafting the revered idols.
Speaking to ANI, he said, "The Ram Darbar is 4.5 ft. All the other sculptures are built according to that...It has idols of Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, the sun god, Goddess Durga, Lord Hanuman, Saptrishi, Shatrughan, Bharat, annapurana and many others. The idols of Ram and Sita are made from one stone, while the other idols are made of another stone.."
Earlier, Nripendra Mishra, Chairman of the Construction Committee of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, announced that prayers and devotional programs for all the idols will commence on June 3 and conclude on June 5. He also noted that the remaining construction work on the Ram Mandir is expected to be completed by September or October.
"Preparations are complete, including essential works like waterproofing and repellency, which will continue as needed. However, the core construction of the main temple will be finalised, marking a historic milestone. The remaining construction within the temple premises is on track for completion by September-October, per the planned schedule. Key elements like the Parakota and the Peshavatar Temple are nearing completion. The Sapt Mandir, housing seven pavilions and statues of sages, is already finished. Additionally, the Pushkarni water reservoir at the centre has been completed. By the end of 2025, all construction projects initiated in 2020 are expected to be fully realised," he said.
The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir has been constructed in the traditional Nagara architectural style. Measuring 380 feet in length (east to west), 250 feet in width, and rising to a height of 161 feet, the grand structure is supported by 392 intricately carved pillars and 44 doors.
The temple’s pillars and walls are adorned with detailed sculptures depicting various Hindu deities, Gods, and Goddesses, reflecting the richness of India’s spiritual heritage. At the heart of the temple, in the sanctum sanctorum on the ground floor, resides the idol of Shri Ram in his childhood form, Shri Ram Lalla.
Since the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, lakhs of devotees have been making their way to Ayodhya, with daily footfall at the Hanumangarhi Ram Temple also witnessing a significant rise.
