A dumper truck ran over four people on a motorcycle near Madan Kothi on the Lucknow-Bahraich highway, killing all four, including a married couple, at the scene. The motorcycle riders were traveling to Barabanki. After the accident, the dumper went out of control and overturned into a ditch; the driver fled the scene. Police are investigating the matter.
Karan, a resident of Laluhi in the Khairighat area, was traveling by motorcycle with his wife Renu, their three-year-old son Vicky, and his 35-year-old brother-in-law, Chandra Kishore, to visit the Kotwadham fair in Barabanki. It is reported that between the Madan Kothi intersection and Narayanpur Pakdiya in the Fakharpur area, the dumper, which was loaded with gravel and coming from the Lucknow side, ran over the motorcycle riders who were approaching from the Bahraich side.
All four individuals died at the location of the accident. Station House Officer Brahma Gaund stated that the gravel-filled dumper went out of control and veered into a ditch, possibly due to fog or the driver falling asleep. In the process, it crushed the adjacent motorcycle, which had four people on it.
