In a bid to ensure the sanctity and confidentiality of examinations, DeenDayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Gorakhpur University has issued a strict directive warning that the entire examination at a centre will be cancelled if invigilators are found carrying mobile phones.
The New Directive
The Office of the Controller of Examinations has issued an order stating that the possession of mobile phones or other electronic devices by invigilators and supervisors during duty is strictly prohibited.
The Consequence: If any invigilator or supervisor is found with a mobile phone or electronic device during an inspection, the examination at that respective centre for that day will be cancelled with immediate effect.
Reason For The Crackdown
The decision comes after the university administration received multiple complaints from various examination centres. Furthermore, during online monitoring, the administration observed invigilators and supervisors at several colleges present in the examination hall with mobile phones. The administration has deemed this practice unacceptable as it compromises the dignity and confidentiality of the exams.
Instructions To Centre Superintendents
The university has written to all Centre Superintendents, instructing them to ensure strict compliance with the following rules:
Mandatory Deposit: It is now mandatory for all personnel to deposit their electronic devices at a designated location before commencing their duties.
Zero Tolerance: Superintendents must ensure that appointed invigilators do not carry devices into the hall.
Official Statement
Dr Kuldeep Singh, Controller of Examinations, emphasized that the university is committed to the smooth and fair conduct of exams. He stated that strict compliance is required from all centres and "no laxity in this matter will be tolerated."
