The district administration of Gonda, which is located in the eastern Uttar Pradesh region has initiated a campaign called ‘Har Ghar Neki Ki Deewar’ (Wall of Kindness) which aims to improve the living conditions of the underprivileged people ahead of Diwali. The campaign urges people to donate their unused items such as old clothes, toys and footwear to the needy instead of throwing them away.
The district administration said that they would assist the locals in redistributing these items to those in need. The authorities said that the campaign aims to bring joy to the less fortunate during this festive season through ‘Neki Ki Dewar’ established at various locations in the district.
The campaign has been structured in a way that will encourage locals to participate in an overwhelming manner and it also involves government officials and employees, who will help deliver these goods to the underprivileged. The district administration also plans to reward the best performers in this initiative.
Gonda District Magistrate Neha Sharma said that many households clean their homes during Diwali and take out items that are no longer in use. She encouraged the residents to donate these items to the ‘Neki ki Deewar’ at their nearest municipality, nagar panchayat or gram panchayat. She said that this collective effort would brighten the lives of the needy during this festive occasion.
The campaign, which started in Gonda with the intention of helping the poor, has the potential to become a model for the whole state as it promotes the message of love and service to humanity.
