Farrukhabad Leopard Attack: A leopard attacked a group of villagers in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad on Monday morning, leaving a dozen people seriously injured. The leopard was reportedly spotted in the fields near Jasmai village around 8.30 am.

Forest department personnel, with the help of locals, tried to capture the leopard, but the animal attacked three workers. In response, a group of villagers quickly came to the rescue of the injured.

According to Jagran.com, Rajesh Dixit, a resident of Jasmai village was irrigating his potato field when a wild animal attacked him. Not just Rajesh, Jitendra Singh Rajput, Pawan Rajput, Ramesh Rajput, a resident of Patpatnangla, Sher Singh, a resident of Khatwapur, Naresh, Anuj Rajput and Ramnaresh, who were going on the road, were also attacked by the animal.

Following the incident, chaos erupted in the village and hundreds of villagers reached the spot with licensed weapons. SDM Sadar Rajnikant Pandey, the police station in-charge Balraj Bhati, and Block Development Officer Mahendra Singh quickly rushed to the scene. 

Forest department officials were alerted, and when they reached an hour later, the wild animal attacked people for the second time. This time, four people, including two forest personnel, sustained injuries. The villagers who were injured speculated that the animal responsible for the attacks was likely a leopard. Meanwhile, authorities are making efforts to trap the leopard.

In another incident in Uttarakhand, a leopard was shot dead by shooters of the state forest department on Tuesday evening in Tehri Garhwal region, officials said. The leopard was responsible for the death of three children in the region.
