In a chilling incident, two students were killed while seven others were injured after an explosion occurred in a coaching centre in Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad.

The explosion with a loud sound caused panic in the surrounding areas and at the coaching centre. The students rushed out of the centre. The coaching centre named Sun Classes Library and Coaching Center is located near Katiyar Cold Storage on Satanpur Mandi Road in the city.

A massive explosion occurred outside the building around 3:30 PM on Saturday. The explosion was so strong that the building in which the coaching center was located shook. Furniture kept in the building, the tin shed outside, the pillars, etc. fell down. Bikes parked in the tin shed were damaged. Wooden boxes kept nearby were damaged. As soon as the explosion occurred, there was chaos in the surrounding area. 

Reacting to the tragic incident, Farrukhabad SP Arti Singh said, "We received information around 3.19 pm pertaining to Kadri Gate Police Station area. Prima facie it seems to be a coaching institute and it has a septic tank in the basement. The blast occurred due to excess concentrated methane there. A switch board was also found there, perhaps the blast occurred due to that. 7 people were injured, of whom two have died and 5 are under treatment. Investigation is being done..."

In the explosion, 26-year-old Akash Saxena died on the spot, seven other students were seriously injured. They were rushed to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

The doctors there referred 25-year-old Akash Kashyap and 11-year-old Rhythm Yadav to Kanpur as they were in critical condition. Akash died near Kamalganj while being taken to Kanpur.

Those injured and hospitalised include:

-Abhay, a class 5 student from village Ninaua

-Anshika Gupta, a class 6 student from near Central Jail

-Piyush Yadav, a class 5 student from Gunjan Vihar Colony

-Piyush's brother Nikhil Yadav, a class 3 student.
