Several major projects are under development including a massive exhibition convention centre, a golf course, theme parks, better road access to the future Noida International Airport, and a proposed Film City along the Yamuna Expressway, officials announced on Wednesday.

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) convened its 81st board meeting on Wednesday at its Greater Noida office, presided over by YEIDA Chairman Anil Kumar Sagar.

The discussion centred on several local connectivity, business, and leisure projects. Arun Vir Singh, CEO of YEIDA, revealed that the board had given its initial permission to some projects meant to draw in foreign and local enterprises and offer top-notch leisure amenities for the region's expanding populace.

"Among the approved proposals is the construction of an exhibition-cum-convention centre on 200 acres in Sector 7, near the airport. This advanced facility will showcase prominent companies from sectors such as medical devices, toys, textiles, electronics, automobiles, and semiconductors," he said.

"The centre aims to provide a unified platform where industrialists arriving at the airport can view products from their respective sectors, facilitating seamless business interactions, exhibitions, conferences, and product launches," Singh added.

On an additional 200 acres in Sector 8, YEIDA intends to build an Expo Mart with an emphasis on handicrafts and furniture. For these projects, feasibility studies will be carried out by India Exposition Mart Ltd., Greater Noida, to identify construction models and revenue-generating strategies.

Singh mentioned that the largest Exhibition, Convention & MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) project in South Asia has been proposed by India Exposition Mart Ltd, and that the company has asked for 200 acres of land. Built on 58 acres, the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida currently holds 40 to 50 events a year.

"The board has given in-principle approval for feasibility studies on this proposal and on the Furniture and Handicraft Park proposed by IPML," he said.

Singh emphasised how important it is to create a Convention Centre under the Authority's purview to support commercial expos and conferences. The region expects significant expansion in international trade, industrial operations, commercial endeavors, and more with the upcoming Noida International Airport near Jewar and the proposed International Film City.
