The water level of the Yamuna river is steadily going down and is now flowing two meters below the danger mark. Along with this, water is also slowly receding from more than 5,000 illegal farmhouses built in the river's floodplain. Experts believe that looking at the current rainfall situation, there is no longer a threat of flooding, so people have started to return to their homes.

Currently, 71,000 cusecs of water are being discharged from the Okhla Barrage, which is 21,000 cusecs above the normal level. However, the water flow has reduced by 13,000 cusecs in the last 24 hours. This is a big relief for the thousands of people affected by the floods.

On Tuesday, the Yamuna's water level fell for the fourth consecutive day, causing the water to drain out from most areas and the farmhouses in the floodplain. People are now returning to these farmhouses to check on their work and temporary shelters. This situation has also brought relief to the administrative teams that were working on flood prevention and rescue efforts.

In the floodplain areas of the Yamuna and Hindon (Harnandi) rivers, specifically Sectors 150, 151, 144, and 145, the water is now flowing back towards the main stream of the Yamuna. As the water level drops in the flooded areas, roads are becoming visible again, and people are returning to their homes. However, hundreds of families are still taking shelter in relief camps and are only going back to their houses to look for their belongings. Many families who suffered heavy losses in the flood have returned to their home districts.

Floodwaters have also receded from several other areas, including Sector-168 and 94. It is expected that once the water discharge from the Okhla Barrage comes down to 50,000 cusecs, the Yamuna river will be completely back within its main channel.
