Women's Safety In Delhi Questioned Again As Cab Driver Commits Obscene Act In Front Of Student

Another shameful incident has come to light in the capital city of Delhi, once again raising serious concerns about women's safety. Delhi Police have arrested a cab driver for allegedly performing an obscene act in front of a female student.

The accused driver has been identified as Lom Shankar. He is accused of masturbating while driving in the presence of a student in the Morris Nagar area of New Delhi.

According to the police, the action was taken based on the complaint filed by the victim. The police have seized the driver's car, and the process to record the victim's official statement before a magistrate is now underway. Delhi Police confirmed, "A cab driver named Lom Shankar has been arrested on a student's complaint. He is accused of masturbating while driving. The car has been seized, and an investigation is ongoing."

A Similar Case Also Happened In Gurugram

This incident is a reminder of a similar case that took place in Gurugram in August. A young man masturbated in front of a model in broad daylight at Rajiv Chowk.

The victim had explained that on August 3rd, while she was waiting for a cab after returning from Jaipur, a man started staring at her. A little later, the man unzipped his pants and began performing obscene acts.

The frightened victim recorded the entire incident on her phone. When she didn't get immediate help from the police, she became frustrated and shared the video on social media platforms 'X' and Instagram. As the video went viral, the Gurugram police took action and filed a case on August 5th under sections 77/78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Later, the accused was identified as Abhilash Kumar from Karnal, Haryana. He was married and had a son. He held an M Tech degree and worked as an Assistant Manager in a private company in Sector-49, Gurugram, with an annual salary of Rs 14 lakh. During questioning, he confessed to his crime.

Pilot Was Also Arrested

Before this, last Thursday, the Delhi Police had also arrested a 31-year-old pilot from a private airline. He was accused of using a hidden spy camera to make an inappropriate video of a woman.
