In Gautam Budh Nagar, when minor arguments and disagreements between husbands and wives started spilling out of their homes and reaching police stations, the Commissionerate Police started an initiative to solve them through counseling and mediation instead of taking legal action. Through this effort, which involves psychologists, professional counselors, and the Family Dispute Resolution Clinic (FDRC), cracks in relationships were mended.
As a result of this effort, between January 1 and August 31, 2024, the Gautam Budh Nagar police saved 246 families that were on the verge of breaking up. The police also made these couples promise not to fight again in the future.
This has been made possible through the FDRC (Family Dispute Resolution Clinic) run by the Commissionerate Police, which works to mediate in family and marital disputes. Teams from the FDRC and the Women's Help Cell help families reconcile by understanding their mental, emotional, and behavioral problems. The goal of this initiative is to build a better society by resolving internal family conflicts.
According to Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, the FDRC offices in Sector-108, Knowledge Park, and the Women's Help Cell received a total of 384 complaints in the last eight months. Out of these, 266 cases were resolved. A settlement was reached through mutual agreement in 246 of these cases, and legal cases had to be filed in only 20 instances. She added that efforts for women's safety, community cooperation, and crime prevention are ongoing.

DCP for Women's Safety, Preeti Yadav, mentioned that besides the FDRC, 25 Pink Booths are also operational in the district. Additionally, 89 'Swayamsiddha' mobile teams are on patrol, with 35 in the Noida Zone, 28 in the Central Noida Zone, and 26 in the Greater Noida Zone. Anti-Romeo squads are also active to prevent incidents of harassment, stalking and violence against women.
Furthermore, programs are being organised under the 'Mission Shakti' campaign to increase public participation and prevent crime. In the month of August alone, 501 programs were held, raising awareness among 50,314 people.
