In a bid to strengthen women’s safety, the Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate Police have placed 210 identified crime-prone areas under constant surveillance. A total of 370 cameras have been installed across these hotspots, which include markets, metro stations, and major intersections. Local police teams, along with specialised women’s police units, will patrol these areas to prevent crimes against women.
Noida, emerging as a 24-hour city, has seen a rise in working women and female students, making women’s safety a key priority. Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh stated that the initiative aims to instil a sense of security among women while monitoring anti-social elements. Recently, 20 additional cameras were installed to enhance coverage.
Under Mission Shakti Phase 5.0, dedicated teams at every police station, along with Mission Shakti centres, are conducting daily patrols and awareness drives in housing societies, schools, factories, metro stations, bus stands, and other crowded places.
Since the launch of the campaign, 630 female beat officers have organised programmes at 305 locations, reaching over 16,000 women with information on rights, crime prevention, women’s helplines, and cyber security.
The district’s Anti-Romeo Squad has also been actively checking vehicles and monitoring public spaces. So far, over 5,000 vehicles and 113,000 people have been screened, resulting in 24 arrests, 11 cases registered, and 12 actions under the Gunda Act. The combined efforts of surveillance, patrolling, and awareness campaigns aim to make Gautam Buddh Nagar a safer district for women.
