Ghaziabad News: To reduce traffic in Ghaziabad, the Uttar Pradesh Police will start enforcing an e-rickshaw ban from September 2 from 7 AM to 10 PM. The prohibition is the result of e-rickshaw-related traffic bottlenecks that impact vehicles going along Hapur Road Tiraha and Bus Adda to Moradabad, Rampur, and Lucknow.

Preparations are in place to put this e-rickshaw ban on Hapur Road in Ghaziabad into effect after a thorough assessment and a successful trial on NH9. The first phase of the ban will apply from Purana Bus Adda to Dasna Flyover. E-rickshaws will still be authorised to operate in neighbourhoods.

The prohibition will go into force on September 2, according to Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra. To save as much inconvenience as possible, guidelines and new rules will be announced to the public on Thursday. The vicinity of Old Bus Stand, RDC Flyover, and Hapur Road Chungi would be most impacted by the restriction.

E-rickshaws will be halted before the Hapur Road crossing. Passengers will then have to take an auto, bus, or walk approximately 50 metres to reach Hapur Road. To reduce traffic congestion, vehicles have been asked to only pick up and drop off passengers in specified lanes.

The police anticipate that this strategy would enhance traffic flow. Nonetheless, there is broad public discontent. Several people are dissatisfied with the higher fees. Previously, e-rickshaws provided a straight route; now, with the new ban, riders would pay twice. They will first pay for an e-rickshaw to Hapur Road, followed by an auto to complete their journey.
