Ghaziabad House Tax Payment: One lakh people have not paid the house tax in Ghaziabad. From Tuesday, April 1, 12 per cent penalty interest will be imposed on all these defaulters. The Municipal Commissioner has given instructions to take strict action against those who have not paid the house tax despite repeated awareness and appeals, jagran.com reported.
The Commissioner told five zonal incharges including the chief tax assessment officer of the Municipal Corporation to launch a war footing campaign against defaulters from April 1. Along with sealing the establishments of these people, sewer and water connections will be cut. It is known that last year about 1.80 lakh people had not deposited the house tax.
This time, there are about one lakh defaulters. They owe Rs 40-50 crore of house tax to the corporation. Additional Municipal Commissioner Avnindra Kumar said that in the next financial year 2025-26, taxpayers will get the benefit of 20 per cent discount on timely payment of house tax.
This discount will be available from April 1, 2025 to July 31, 2025. After this, a 10 per cent discount will be given from August 1 to September 30. Taxpayers will be given a five per cent discount from October 1 to November 1. Apart from this, a one per cent discount will be available on making online payment.
Corporation Collected More Than 350 Crore In Taxes
Due to the strictness and regular monitoring of Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik regarding tax collection, the Municipal Corporation has collected record tax in the financial year 2024-25. As compared to the previous financial year, about Rs 55 crore more tax of Rs 350 crore has been collected.
13.39 Crore Deposited Till Last Day
On the last day of the financial year, 13.39 crore have been collected so far. Defaulters were able to pay the tax online till 12 o'clock on Monday night. All the five zonal offices were opened on Monday despite Eid being a holiday. Also, camps were set up at 11 places in the city for tax collection. Rs 11.48 crore was collected on Sunday and Rs 13.39 crore on Monday.
