Ghaziabad News: Following the appointment of Commissioner J. Ravindra Gaur, the Ghaziabad Commissionerate Police are ramping up their efforts to tackle crime in the area. Since his arrival, the police have arrested 30 suspected criminals and are focused on maintaining a balance between community engagement and strict law enforcement.
Commissioner Gaur has stated the importance of treating the public with respect while also instructing officers to take decisive action against wrongdoers. This dual approach has led to an increase in police encounters, with 19 reported since April 29.
The areas of Vijaynagar, Nandagram and Indirapuram have seen the highest number of these encounters, as the police take a tough stance against habitual offenders. According to police officials, station in-charges have been directed to implement effective measures against miscreants, contributing to the rise in encounters over the past few weeks.
The first encounter under the new commissioner occurred on April 29, involving the Kaushambi Police and a suspect named Shyama alias Sahil. Subsequent encounters included an incident on April 30 with the Wave City Police and a suspect named Bilal. On May 6, Crossing Republic police arrested four criminals after an encounter, during which two suspects sustained injuries.
Notably, on the same day, Muradnagar police apprehended a criminal named Arkas, who later escaped from the hospital but was re-arrested within 24 hours.

In addition to crime-fighting efforts, Commissioner Gaur is prioritising public-centric policing. Under this initiative, FIR copies are now delivered directly to complainants' homes. The beat policing system has been revamped, and officers are encouraged to provide treats, such as toffees and chocolates, to children visiting police stations. Efforts are also being made to improve facilities for visitors, including seating and drinking water.
Commissioner Gaur has reiterated that while strict actions against criminals will persist, any misconduct by police personnel towards the public will not be tolerated.
