The body of a 27-year-old married woman was found hanging under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday in Sudamapuri, under the jurisdiction of the Crossing Republik police station. The incident triggered a commotion as the woman's family accused her in-laws of murder.
Victim Details
The deceased has been identified as Lali. She was two months pregnant at the time of her death. Approximately one and a half years ago, she married Pankaj, a resident of Sudamapuri who operates a farmhouse on lease.
Allegations Of Foul Play
Upon receiving news of the death, Lali’s family arrived at the scene and alleged that she had been murdered. Her father, Gopiram, has filed a formal complaint with the police, citing specific reasons why he believes it was not a suicide:
- Physical Evidence: He stated that the distance between the bed and the ceiling fan, where the body was reportedly found hanging, was too short to allow for a suicide.
- Body Position: He claimed that Lali's legs were bent, further suggesting that it was impossible for her to have hanged herself.
- The Accusation: Gopiram alleges that his daughter was killed first and then hanged to make it look like a suicide.
Police Action
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against the in-laws at the Crossing Republik police station.
Investigation: The police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
Official Statement: ACP Priyashri Pal stated that the cause of death—whether it is a case of murder or suicide—will only be confirmed once the post-mortem report is received. Further legal action will be taken based on those findings.
