A video showing a sub-inspector’s violent assault on an e-rickshaw driver in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad has emerged online, sparking widespread outrage on social media platforms. The police authorities have also launched an investigation into the matter. The nine-second footage, circulated vigorously since its appearance on Tuesday, shows the sub-inspector forcefully pulling the helpless driver's hair and dragging him before allegedly beating him up.

The incident took place at Adhyatmik Nagar area under Wave City police station area in Ghaziabad. Taking cognizance of the viral video, the higher official has handed over the matter for investigation to Wave City ACP Poonam Mishra. "The matter is being looked into and action will be taken against anyone found guilty," ACP Mishra told news agency PTI.
In another incident that took place in Ghaziabad last week, a security guard assigned to safeguard the park in Vaishali Sector-1 of the city was reportedly assaulted by an inspector. The guard had reportedly requested the accused’s daughter to leave the park as she had stayed beyond the designated hours. Outraged by the request, the inspector physically attacked him. The authenticity of the video has not been confirmed. However, the police have registered the case and launched an investigation into the matter.

Earlier in April this year, as many as five people were detained in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on the charge of "attempt to murder" after they allegedly assaulted a man who works as an auditor for a private company. According to the police, two of the five accused were the victim's coworkers, who hired goons to beat him up because of a difference of opinion. The police took action after the video went viral on social media.
