The public and various organisations of Ghaziabad have been called upon to unite in protest against the Municipal Corporation's decision to increase property tax by up to 300 per cent, a move critics say was made without public consent.

The Confederation of RWAs (CORWA) has appealed to all trade and industry bodies, social organisations, AOAs (Apartment Owners Associations), and Welfare Associations to participate in a sit-in protest organised for 11 am today at the Municipal Corporation headquarters.

Tejendra Pal Tyagi, the chief patron of CORWA UP, stated that Mayor Sunita Dayal has already cancelled the increased property tax. He added that it was clarified in a Municipal Corporation meeting that the High Court has not issued any stay order on the matter. Therefore, Tyagi argues, since the house has cancelled the increase, the issue should be automatically resolved.
