Mosquitoes continue to thrive despite the onset of winter and severe air pollution, with fresh dengue cases being reported daily in Ghaziabad. Hospitals are receiving new patients, many of whom are experiencing a drop in platelet count. While one dengue-related death has been officially confirmed, more than ten deaths due to fever have been reported in the district so far.

In the past 24 hours, five new dengue cases were confirmed, three through government laboratories and two through private labs, taking the district’s tally to 278. Meanwhile, the total number of malaria cases has reached 86. Three patients are currently hospitalised for treatment.

On Monday, health department teams conducted inspections at 158 homes across various localities and destroyed mosquito larvae found in 85 of them. Notices have been issued to residents where larvae were detected.

District Surveillance Officer RK Gupta said that under the Communicable Disease Control Campaign launched on October 11, health teams are collecting samples from relatives of patients diagnosed with fever, tuberculosis, malaria and dengue. Fogging and insecticide spraying are ongoing in high-risk areas. 

Additional teams have also been deployed to conduct awareness drives in dengue and malaria-affected neighbourhoods. Daily reports on patients with fever, typhoid, dengue, malaria and viral infections are being collected from both government and private hospitals.

Physician Dr Santram Verma advised people not to take any medication other than paracetamol in case of fever and to consult a doctor before taking other drugs. He also urged citizens to sleep under mosquito nets, wear full-sleeved clothing and continue wearing masks when stepping out.

New dengue cases in the last 24 hours:

-Sanjay Nagar: Male, 72 years

-Nai Basti: Female, 26 years

-Kaila Bhatta: Male, 30 years

-Rajendra Nagar: Child, 6 years

-Rozy Colony: Female, 62 years

Health teams have begun awareness drives across dengue-affected areas, including Bulandshahr Road Industrial Area, Dasna, Loni, Modinagar, Muradnagar, Raj Nagar, Indirapuram, Vasundhara, Sahibabad, Vijay Nagar, Brij Vihar and several adjoining colonies.

Similar campaigns have also been launched in malaria-affected regions such as Arthala Mohan Nagar, Buddh Vihar, Dasna, Muradnagar, Hindon Vihar, Makanpur, Mirzapur, Rajbagh, Khora Gaon, Vasundhara, Vijay Nagar and Loni.

Officials emphasise that community participation remains crucial for effective vector control and prevention of further infections.
