In an effort to modernise the city’s roundabouts and enhance greenery, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has drafted a plan to redesign key intersections on the lines of a ‘Greenland’ theme. Officials said the initiative aims not only to beautify the city but also to help reduce pollution and streamline traffic flow.

GDA Vice-Chairperson Nand Kishor Kalal said the project will be executed in two phases. Regional officers have been instructed to survey roundabouts within their jurisdictions, after which five locations will be selected for development under the first phase.

Roundabouts in major GDA schemes, including Madhuban Bapudham, Rajnagar Extension, Koyal Enclave, and Indraprastha Yojana, are under consideration. In Rajnagar Extension, the roundabouts near Ajnara Heights and Ashiana Society have been placed on the proposed list.

Officials clarified that no construction materials will be used in the redesign. Instead, high-pollution, absorbing plants along with medicinal varieties will be planted to create green, eco-friendly spaces.
