Treatment facilities for kidney patients are about to begin at AIIMS, and the institute's Chairman, Padma Shri Dr Hemant Kumar, will personally oversee it. He will visit AIIMS every month to check on patients and provide his advice. Along with this, a special OPD (Out-Patient Department) to help prevent kidney diseases will also start operating from next week. The Chairman will also offer online consultations to these OPD patients from time to time.

Dr Hemant Kumar is a senior kidney specialist (nephrologist) with 35 years of experience treating kidney patients in Patna. On Tuesday, he met with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and updated him on the ongoing development work at AIIMS. The Chief Minister requested him to create a good environment for patient treatment, as well as for research and education. He congratulated the Chairman, saying that the systems at AIIMS are improving rapidly.

The Chairman announced that the kidney disease prevention OPD starting next week will have doctors from the Medicine and Community Medicine departments. This clinic will provide counseling to people suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity, as their kidneys are at a higher risk of disease. The Executive Director, Major General (Retd) Dr Vibha Dutta, was also present during the announcement.

He emphasised that patients in the Emergency department must receive initial treatment under all circumstances and should only be referred elsewhere when it is absolutely necessary.

Housing To Be Built For Doctors, Stress-Free Advice Given To Students

The Chairman said that a residential complex will be built to help attract doctors and staff to the institute.

Later, while speaking to medical students in the AIIMS auditorium, he expressed concern over the rising trend of suicide among students. He told the students to treat their studies as a hobby, not a burden. He advised, "Practice meditation after waking up every morning. Then talk to your friends. After that, go to your classes. Don't get stressed out by studies, because studying is our hobby. There is no stress in a hobby." He urged the medical students not to worry and said, "If you have any problem, talk to the doctors. We treat everyone, so medical students are like our own children to us." He also shared his personal mantras for success with the students.
