Construction of three major roads in the Shahpur area of Raptinagar ward, Gorakhpur, has begun under the Chief Minister Green Road Infrastructure Development (CM GRID) Phase-One scheme. The work follows the completion of ducts and utility relocation, and the Municipal Corporation has set a target to finish the project by March 2026, three months ahead of the original June deadline.

The three roads, costing Rs 44.88 crore, include:

-A 510-metre-long, 24-metre-wide road from Shahpur police station to Riddhi Hospital

-A 471-metre-long, 18-metre-wide road from Doordarshan Awas on Medical College Road to Brothers Bakery

-A 1,417-metre-long, 18-metre-wide road from Rajivnagar Kuan to the Raptinagar electricity office

These roads will be interconneted to improve connectivity within the ward.

The CM GRID roads will not only be high-quality and durable but also colourful, painted in red, sky blue, and brown using a roller brush. The paint will come with a one-year guarantee and can be easily reapplied. This initiative will be trialled on the road under construction in Raptinagar.
