Gorakhpur Link Expressway Update: The officials on Saturday announced that the Gorakhpur Link Expressway will now be inaugurated on June 20. The inauguration ceremony was scheduled for June 17; however, the administration changed the plan, reportedly due to expected poor weather. While providing details, the Gorakhpur District Magistrate Krishna Karunesh stated that the ceremony will be held at the two places, adding that the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also address the crowd after inaugurating the much-awaited expressway. He further stated that the first event will be organised near Salarpur in Azamgarh district, where the Link Expressway connects to the Purvanchal Expressway.

He further stated that the second event will be organised near the first toll plaza (Bhagwanpur) on the expressway in Gorakhpur. Karunesh also clarified that the inauguration ceremony will be organized on the expressway due to expected light to moderate rainfall. The Gorakhpur DM emphasised that the expressway will provide benefit to the residents of several cities by cutting the travel time and reducing the traffic congestion.

"The inauguration of Gorakhpur Link Expressway will now take place on 20th June. The inauguration ceremony will be organized at two places. The venue for the ceremony is proposed to be at the first toll plaza after the opening of the expressway in Jaitpur, Gorakhpur. Similarly, a ceremony will be organized in Azamgarh as well. Preparations are underway for this," Karunesh was quoted as saying by Jagran.Com.

Earlier on June 11, a team of officials from the government inspected both of the proposed sites identified for the inauguration ceremony. The team informed the district administration that the ceremony will be organised on June 20. DM Krishna Karunesh held a meeting with all the ADMs and SDMs in the camp office and gave them the important instructions regarding the ceremony.
