Several areas in Noida have been witnessing a severe water crisis for the last four days. The situation worsened on Saturday when various housing societies in the 7X area did not receive any water supply amid scorching heat. Annoyed residents lodged complaints with the concerned authorities but there was no resolution. Old sectors in Noida reported low water pressure or no supply at all.
According to the water authority, cited by Jagran.com, the supply of Ganga water resumed at 5 PM on Saturday and the situation is expected to return to normal by Sunday morning.
The water scarcity in Noida came after a 13-kilometre-long 80 cusec Ganga water supply line got damaged. A prior notice was issued regarding its repair from June 9 to June 13. The authority had assured that alternative arrangements would be made during the repair period. However, due to the extreme heat, water demand surged and residents did not receive an adequate supply.
In sectors 75, 76, 77, and 78 of the 7X area, thousands of residents across dozens of societies faced difficulties due to the water shortage. In the Ajnara Golf View-2 Society, no water supply was available in the morning, forcing residents to arrange water from external sources for essential chores. The shortage continued into the afternoon.
Although some water tankers were arranged, they were insufficient to meet the demand. In older sectors like Sector 12 and 22, the water pressure remained extremely low. Similarly, Rajat Vihar in Sector 62 did not receive any supply on Saturday morning. Authorities have claimed that with the resumption of the Ganga water supply on Saturday evening, the situation should normalise by Sunday morning.
