A shocking incident has emerged from the Gulriha police station area in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, where suspicion ruined a newly formed marriage and tore a family apart. A newlywed man, driven by unfounded doubts, accused his elder brother of having an affair with his wife, a belief that tragically led to murder and assault. The accused has been taken into custody by the police.

What Led to the Shocking Crime?

Satish, a resident of Tola Hiraganj in Narayanpur village, married Saroj on February 13. As per tradition, after a short stay at her maternal home, Saroj returned to her husband’s house on April 21. For a while, everything seemed normal. However, Satish's growing insecurity soon cast a shadow over their relationship.

Saroj’s first major ritual at her new home was the "first kitchen" ceremony, where she prepared a special meal for her in-laws. Her cooking was praised by everyone, including her brother-in-law, Atish. While the family celebrated, Satish became withdrawn and suspicious. Earlier that day, he had seen his elder brother walking around the house in his underwear, a sight that irrationally triggered doubts in his mind. After hearing Atish compliment Saroj’s cooking, his suspicions intensified.

That same night, driven by baseless fear and anger, Satish strangled Saroj in their bedroom. According to a News18 report, he sat with her lifeless body throughout the night.

Attacks His Brother

After killing his wife, Satish stayed on the ground floor of their home, where he lived with his parents. Early the next morning, he went upstairs to his brother Atish’s room. When their sister-in-law, Pooja, noticed him lying on the sofa and asked why, he casually replied that it was too hot downstairs.

Once Pooja left, Satish sneaked into Atish’s room and attacked him with a hammer, striking him on the head. Hearing the commotion, the family members rushed to the scene, forcing Satish to flee. Fortunately, Atish survived the brutal attack and is currently out of danger.

Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation

Following the horrifying events, Saroj’s father filed a complaint at the Gulriha police station. The case was registered against Satish, his elder brother Atish, their parents, sister-in-law, and another relative, accusing them of dowry-related murder.

During interrogation, Satish confessed to killing his wife. He admitted that he suspected Saroj and Atish of having an affair, even though he had no evidence to back his claims. His suspicion stemmed purely from seeing his brother in his underwear the previous day.

Police are continuing their investigation, and Satish remains in custody as further legal proceedings unfold.
