Panic erupted on Sunday morning after a major fire broke out at the Water Ways Restaurant and Banquet in Taramandal. An employee from Gonda, identified as Purushottam, was trapped inside and died from suffocation. The entire building was engulfed in smoke and burned for two hours.

The preliminary cause of the fire is being cited as a short circuit.

Emergency Response

The Golghar fire station was informed of the blaze at the Water Ways Restaurant, located opposite the Buddhist Museum, at 5:16 am on Sunday. The Ramgarhtal police and a fire brigade team were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found every floor of the three-storey building engulfed in flames. Four fire brigade teams managed to bring the fire under control after a strenuous three-hour effort, which involved continuously spraying water for two hours.

Fatality Details

During the operation, housekeeping employee Purushottam was found unconscious in the smoke-filled restroom of the restaurant. The Ramgarhtal police transported him to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police have informed the victim's family in the Gonda district. The preliminary cause of death is reported to be suffocation.

Cause And Damage Assessment

According to the fire department, the fire appears to have been caused by a short circuit. The extent of the damage to the restaurant and banquet hall is currently being assessed.

SP City Abhinav Tyagi confirmed that the fire has been brought under control and that the fire brigade team is assessing the damage. He also stated that the housekeeping employee's family has been informed of the incident.
