A 36-year-old man allegedly hanged himself to death after a dispute with his wife over coming late from the office. The incident occurred in Greater Noida’s Beta 2 area on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, claiming the life of the husband and leaving his wife in critical condition after a fight broke out between the couple. However, no suicide note was found, and no case has been registered yet.

What Led To The Shocking Incident?

The deceased was a manager at a factory in Site V, Greater Noida. He resided with his 33-year-old wife and three children at a rental accommodation in Sector 36.

According to the initial investigation, the deceased wife used to pressurise him to return from the office early, as he would come back around 10 or 11 PM due to work pressure. The man often told his wife that it was not possible to return early, or else he would have to resign.

“Investigation found that at 8.55 pm, the woman messaged her husband to tell him when he would arrive home. As he shared his location and replied that he would arrive soon, she texted ‘It has turned into an everyday drama,” Beta 2 SHO Vinod Kumar said.

Police findings revealed that the woman had made multiple WhatsApp calls to her husband and had been texting him since 5:30 PM. The exact reason behind asking to return early from the office is ascertained.

At 11:56 PM, she called a relative and asked him to come home. When the relative arrived at her home, he saw the woman hanging by a cord and her husband lying unconscious on the floor. Soon after, the woman was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The woman is in a critical condition.

“Their children were asleep in another room, and they were not informed about the incident yet. It is believed that as the woman learnt about her husband’s death, she put him down and hanged herself from the same ceiling fan while leaving a message for her kids,” SHO said.

“Late Monday night, we received information from the hospital that a couple attempted suicide. Upon arrival, it was revealed that the husband had died while the wife was undergoing treatment,” he added.
