Greater Noida School News: Taking strict action against 66 schools in the region for concealing the fee increase, the District Magistrate, Manish Kumar, has slapped them with a fine of Rs 1 lakh each. Three other schools have been issued show-cause notices for charging additional fees from parents and ordered to return money. The District Magistrate issued directives during a meeting of the District Fee Regulatory Committee on Friday.
Additionally, all the schools have been cautioned against compelling guardians to buy books, uniforms or stationery material. According to a report by Jagran.com, the DM said that strict action will be taken against such schools.
The District School Inspector, serving as Member Secretary of the District Fee Regulatory Committee, informed the District Magistrate that 144 schools in the district have submitted details of their fee hikes for the year.
These Noida Schools Notified
The District Magistrate has ordered the committee to issue notices to three schools - Amar Public School in Sector-37, Noida, Paras Public School in Milk Lacchi, and Sant Kishori Vidya Mandir in Sector-158, Noida - for collecting an additional 5% fee beyond the allowed increase tied to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The schools are required to respond within a week, explaining why they charged excess fees.
The District Magistrate has directed the committee to ensure immediate refunds of excess fees to students from three schools that charged more than the allowed limit. Additionally, 66 schools that failed to submit fee hike details this year will face a fine of ₹1 lakh each under the Uttar Pradesh Self-Financed Independent School (Fee Regulation) Act 2018. These schools will receive a show-cause notice and must provide an explanation within a week.
Upload Fee Hike Information On Websites 60-Day In Advance
The District Magistrate has instructed schools to upload details of any fee hikes on their websites 60 days in advance. Additionally, schools must submit information on staff salary increases for the 2025-26 academic year compared to 2024-25 within a week. The District School Inspector noted that recognized schools cannot increase fees by more than 5%, including the Consumer Price Index (CPI)
The District Magistrate also directed that, according to the Act, schools are prohibited from changing their uniforms before five years. To ensure compliance, the District Magistrate has ordered the formation of inspection teams led by the City Magistrate, Sub-District Magistrate Tehsildar.
Seven Committees Formed For Investigation
Seven committees have been formed to inspect the schools. According to a report by Jagran.com, the district school inspector said that seven investigation committees have been formed under the chairmanship of City Magistrate Noida, Sub-District Magistrate Dadri, Sadar, Jewar, Tehsildar Dadri, Sadar and Deputy Collector Ved Prakash Pandey to inspect the schools. These committees will inspect the schools in their respective areas and ensure that in any school the students and parents are not being forced to buy dress, books, shoes, socks, etc.
