Despite assurances from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to fast-track industrial development, many entrepreneurs are still unable to take possession of their allotted plots, delaying business expansion in the region.

Suresh Bhati, a readymade garment manufacturer from Noida, was allotted a 1,800-square-metre industrial plot in Sector 32 under a 2019 YEIDA scheme. Bhati completed the full payment of Rs 1.2 crore in ten instalments by February 2025. However, he has been repeatedly visiting YEIDA for possession and registration of the plot over the past six months, receiving only assurances each time.

The delay is reportedly due to YEIDA’s inability to acquire the land from the farmer, on which three to four industrial plots are planned. On Tuesday, Bhati met CEO Rakesh Kumar Singh to demand possession.

The Industries Department assured him that possession would be granted promptly once the land acquisition and development are completed. CEO Singh has instructed the Land Records and Industries departments to expedite negotiations and complete the process as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, YEIDA has been issuing notices to entrepreneurs who have received possession of plots but have not yet started construction. Many entrepreneurs have expressed resentment, pointing out that facilities such as roads, water, sewerage, and electricity remain incomplete at several sites. They argue that it is unrealistic to expect industries to be set up under such conditions.

According to YEIDA records, under the 2013 industrial scheme, 115 allottees are still awaiting possession of their plots, highlighting persistent delays in land acquisition and infrastructure development in the industrial sectors.
