Greater Noida Horror: More than 200 people in a society in Greater Noida fell sick after allegedly consuming contaminated water on Monday. The residents of Supertech Eco Village 2, especially children, reported symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. According to an NDTV report, four children have been hospitalised.
"My son came from a coaching institute and complained of ill health. He vomited twice in the institute. After a while, my younger son, who is aged 8, started complaining of ill health," a resident of the society, which reportedly has more than 50 towers, said as reported by NDTV.
He claimed that after he came back from the office at 9 PM, he felt nauseous around 11 PM. "All this is happening due to contamination of water," he claimed.
According to another resident, the children have been unwell with vomiting and dysentery since Sunday night. He said that they also reported having stomachaches.
"We thought the children must have eaten something outside and this is happening because of that. But when we talked to the people of the society, this number started increasing," he said.
He claimed that following the cleaning of a community water tank two days earlier, complaints began.
An inquiry into the occurrence has been launched by officials.
Surge Of Acute Diarrhea Disease In Indore
Over the past two months, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of cases of acute diarrhea disease (ADD) in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, with 3,543 cases recorded. There were 1,571 instances reported in June, and by July there were 1,972 cases—a 26 percent increase. The problem has been made worse by the proliferation of waterborne illnesses during the peak monsoon season. Tap water and other sources of tainted water are the main reason of the increase in ADD cases.
