Noida Traffic Alert: Taj Highway traffic will be diverted to service lanes from Monday for three months as excavation work begins on an underpass between Tigri roundabout and Gaur Chowk. The diversion is likely to cause congestion at one of Greater Noida West's busiest intersections.

"The main carriageway will remain closed for excavation works for the underpass," said Prabhat Shankar, senior manager, Greater Noida Authority. He added that around 35 percent of the underpass construction is already complete, with the entire project slated for completion by May next year.

About Tigri Roundabout And Gaur Chowk Underpass

The 700-metre-long underpass, running parallel to Taj Highway at Gaur Chowk, is part of a long-term plan to ease traffic in one of Greater Noida West’s busiest corridors. Designed as a six-lane project, it aims to provide a direct connection between Greater Noida, Gaur City, and DME, allowing vehicles to bypass Gaur Chowk. Of the total length, 350 metres extend on each side of the chowk, with the project estimated to cost Rs 92 crore.

“This stretch already sees heavy traffic. Residents from Gaur City and Ghaziabad use this route to reach Greater Noida West,” said Amarjeet, a Gaur City resident.
