Test results of food samples recently collected across the Hapur district have revealed major quality violations. Ten samples, including almonds, ghee, gram flour, fennel, mustard oil and lentils, failed laboratory testing during an ongoing inspection drive. Acting on the findings, ADM Sandeep Kumar has imposed penalties totalling Rs 42 lakh on the erring traders.
Over the past few months, teams from the Food and Drug Administration collected samples from various locations. With reports now being received, several items have been declared substandard or unsafe.
Substandard products were found at multiple locations:
-Fennel from Rita Rani of Kheda village, Dhaulana
-Mustard oil and fennel from Rajiv Sharma in Samacha village, Kapurpur police station area
-Pigeon pea lentils from Narendra Kumar of Lajjapuri Mohalla
-Mustard oil from Lalit Kumar and Krishna in Mudafra Bagdpur village
-Pigeon pea lentils from Digambar Sharma of Kakarana village
In addition, a sample of Churan Laddu collected from Devendra in Patari village (NTPC area), and ghee from Ganesh Traders, owned by Anuj Gupta in Chandralok Colony on Modinagar Road, were found to be unsafe for consumption.

Assistant Commissioner II Sunil Kumar stated that action has been taken against adulterators. Test reports of samples collected from various locations last month have been received. Those whose samples failed the test have been fined.
