A wall and the roof slab (lenter) of a room collapsed following a powerful, sudden explosion early in the morning on Friday in Kheda village, within the Pilkhuwa Kotwali area of Hapur district. The incident occurred near a Peer (shrine) on Dhaulana Road.
People sleeping inside and near the room were trapped under the debris following the blast. Two individuals were seriously injured in the incident.
With the help of local residents, the injured were pulled out from the debris and taken to a hospital. The injured have been identified as Pawan Tomar and Raj Kishore Sharma. Raj Kishore is an employee of IG Folding Company and is originally from Gopalganj, Bihar. Meanwhile, Madan from Uttarakhand, who was sleeping in an adjacent room, sustained minor injuries.
Police Investigation Underway
Upon receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and have begun an investigation into the matter. Kotwali Inspector-in-charge Shyopal Singh stated that the scene has been inspected and a forensic team has also been called.
According to the police, the cause of the explosion is still under investigation. It has not yet been confirmed whether the blast was caused by a cylinder, chemicals, or some other reason. The inspector-in-charge affirmed that further action will be taken as soon as the exact cause of the explosion is determined.
It is being reported that the house is owned by a Hindu, and a Muslim family also lived there on rent.
