Railway employees and their families are set to receive timely and appropriate treatment for serious illnesses following a new initiative by the railway administration. The Lalit Narayan Mishra (LNM) Central Railway Hospital in Gorakhpur has empanelled a total of 16 private hospitals from across the country.

These include nine hospitals from Gorakhpur and seven from Lucknow, Delhi, and the Delhi NCR. Agreements have been signed with prominent institutions, including Medanta The Medicity in Gurgaon, as well as Gorakhpur-based hospitals like Hanuman Prasad Poddar, Anandlok, Rachit Hospital, and Raj and Sangam Eye Hospital.

Referred patients will now be able to receive cashless treatment at these empanelled facilities.

KL Gupta, General Secretary of the NE Railway Mazdoor Union (NARMU), stated that the railway administration has taken heed of the employees' needs. He added that railway employees and their families, after being referred, will be able to receive cashless treatment according to the rules and will no longer face difficulties.

New Agreements For Blood Bank And Specialist Doctors

Cashless Blood Bank Services: The railway hospital has also entered into an agreement with the Shri Guru GorakshnathChikitsalaya Blood Bank in Gorakhpur. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by mutual consent to provide blood and blood components to railway beneficiaries on a cashless basis. This agreement will benefit patients admitted to the railway hospital and other railway beneficiaries.

External Specialist Doctors to be Available at Railway OPD Railway employees and their families will now get free consultations from specialist doctors in fields such as neurology, cardiology, and nephrology at the railway hospital. This will be facilitated under the Honorary Visiting Specialist (HVS) engagement facility.

As per Railway Board directives, the LNM Gorakhpur hospital administration has initiated the HVS engagement process and invited applications. Agreement has reportedly been reached on about half a dozen applications. The Railway Board has also determined a revised honorarium for the specialist doctors providing this service.

Official Confirmation

Dr Mo. AA Khan, Medical Director of LNM-Gorakhpur, provided a summary of the new initiatives:

"A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with 16 private hospitals, including Medanta, for the cashless treatment of railway beneficiaries and their dependents. In addition, agreements have been made with the Shri Guru GorakshnathChikitsalaya Blood Bank and a private ambulance service. In compliance with the advisory issued regarding the empanelled hospitals, patients will be provided with quality and timely medical facilities. Nine applications have also been received from specialist doctors under the Honorary Visiting Specialist (HVS) engagement. Contracts with the specialist doctors will also be finalised soon. Patients will also get the facility of additional consultations."
