The Municipal Corporation has begun preparations for the fourth phase of the Chief Minister's Green Road Infrastructure Development (CM GRID) scheme, under which three to four city roads are likely to be selected.
During a meeting in Lucknow on Saturday, the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department, P Guru Prasad, directed that the selection of roads for Phase 4 be completed as soon as possible.
About The CM GRID Scheme
The primary objective of this scheme is to widen major city roads and develop them as 'smart' roads in line with international standards.
Key features of these roads will include:
- Footpaths
- Underground utility ducts (for electricity wires, water, and gas pipelines)
- Greenery
- Modern street lighting
- Benches for seating
The most significant feature is that these roads will not need to be dug up for any repair work in the future, preventing traffic disruptions. Due to these facilities, the roads will only require digging after 15-20 years.
