Fire incidents in densely populated areas and narrow streets often pose a challenge for fire brigades, as large fire engines struggle to reach the affected spots in UP's Jalaun district. To address this issue, the government has introduced bullet fire engines—motorcycle-based fire response units equipped with 60-liter water tanks. Two such bikes have been provided to the district fire brigade headquarters, allowing firefighters to navigate narrow lanes and reach fire locations quickly.
During the summer season, fire incidents rise, particularly in villages, cattle sheds, homes, and farmlands. Strong winds further accelerate the spread of fires, causing significant damage before fire engines can arrive. The introduction of bullet fire engines is expected to significantly improve response times, especially in rural areas and crowded urban localities where accessibility is a major challenge.
Due to non-functional hydrants, fire brigade teams often rely on tube wells for water supply. The new bullet fire engines, which can carry two firefighters, will help combat fires more efficiently even in the toughest terrains, including forests and agricultural fields.
Until now, the city had only two fire engines, which often led to delays in firefighting operations. Recognising the need for better resources, the department has now added one large and one small fire vehicle. Additionally, maintenance work is underway on two existing fire engines to ensure they remain operational.
Firefighting Resources in the District
-Orai Tehsil: 4 fire trucks
-Madhogarh: 1 fire truck
-Kalpi: 1 fire truck
-Konch: 1 fire truck
-Jalaun: 1 fire truck
FSO Chandrashekhar Yadav confirmed that all firefighting vehicles have been repaired and bullet fire engines will play a crucial role in fire emergencies, especially in narrow streets and remote areas.
