Six labourers were killed after a tractor carrying them collided with an Uttar Pradesh roadways bus in Jaunpur district, police said on Monday. The accident occurred at around 11:30 pm on Sunday when an Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus hit a tractor carrying 12 labourers near the Samadhganj market under Sikara police area.
The deceased labourers were identified as Neeraj Saroj (28), Rajesh Saroj (45), Sangram Vishwakarma (25), C Mushar (20), Govind Bind (30) and Atul Saroj (30), all residents of Alishahpur village of Jaunpur district.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shailendra Singh said the UPSRTC bus was travelling from Prayagraj to Deoria when it collided with the tractor carrying labourers. He stated that the bodies of the deceased were sent for postmortem examination. Police have impounded the tractor and bus while a thorough investigation is underway, he added.

In another incident, an Andhra Pradesh roadways bus crashed into a parked truck on the national highway in Kakinada district, killing four people on Monday morning. The victims included three persons who were repairing the truck's tyre puncture and a pedestrian who was passing by.
The accident occurred near Padalamma temple in Prathipadu mandal, where the truck had stopped by the roadside after one of its tyres was punctured. Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
