Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University (CSJMU), Kanpur, has initiated the admission process for 30 seats in Clinical Psychology courses for the current academic session. The Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) has officially approved the university to offer BSc (Hons) in Clinical Psychology and MA in Clinical Psychology, making CSJMU the first state university in Uttar Pradesh to receive such recognition.
According to Prof Sandeep Kumar Singh, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, the RCI's approval is a validation of the university's academic standards, infrastructure, and vocational training capabilities. The new programs will equip students with nationally recognised degrees and specialised training in mental health services.
Course and Admission Details:
-BSc (Hons) Clinical Psychology (4 years) – 20 seats
-MA Clinical Psychology (2 years) – 10 seats
-Last date to apply: July 18
-Entrance exam: August 23
-Interview for shortlisted candidates: August 24
Eligibility Criteria:
BSc (Hons) Clinical Psychology:
-Must have passed 10+2 (Science stream) from a recognised board with a minimum of 50 per cent marks (45 per cent for reserved categories).
MA Clinical Psychology:
-Must hold a 4-year BA/BSc degree in Psychology from a UGC-recognised university with a minimum of 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for SC/ST).
-Candidates with a 3-year graduation and completion of a 44th-year bridge course or first year of a Master’s with 55 per cent marks are also eligible.
The curriculum includes practical training in areas such as mental health assessment, psychological counselling, intervention techniques, and rehabilitation services. Graduates will be prepared for careers in hospitals, mental health institutes, educational settings, and research organisations.

Speaking on the launch of the programs, Vice Chancellor Prof Vinay Kumar Pathak said the new courses will enhance the university’s role in mental health services and contribute to the well-being of society, the nation, and global humanity.
