Under the Kanpur Development Plan 2051, emphasis has been placed on ensuring Kanpur’s future growth is accompanied by smooth traffic flow and enhanced connectivity to promote tourism, industry, and commerce. In a high-level meeting chaired by Divisional Commissioner K. Vijayendra Pandian at his residence, Tractebel Company presented its Vision 2051 blueprint for the city's holistic development.
The plan prioritises the construction of wide roads, bridges, elevated flyovers, and an expanded metro rail network to ease congestion and enhance urban mobility. Key proposals include the development of an elevated railway track, an elevated road, the Trans-Ganga City Bridge, and a four-lane road from Bhaunti to Mandhana.
Recognising Bithoor’s cultural, religious, and tourism significance, the blueprint outlines enhanced connectivity to the area from multiple directions to boost footfall and tourism. The metro network is proposed to be extended by 74.92 km, along with the construction of four new bridges over the Ganga River, the Jarib Chowki Railway Over Bridge, Panki Padav ROB, and elevated flyovers from Fazalganj to Govind Nagar (Barra bypass) and GT Road to Ramadevi via Gol Chauraha.
Commissioner Pandian directed that all relevant departments be provided with copies of the vision document to review and offer suggestions, ensuring a collaborative and well-planned approach to Kanpur’s development.
