In a move to provide greater support for daughters of construction workers, the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has increased the assistance amount under the Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana (Girl’s Marriage Assistance Scheme).
The benefit for each couple participating in mass weddings has been raised from Rs 82,000 to Rs 1,00,000.

Earlier, the scheme provided Rs 65,000 in cash to the couple, Rs 10,000 for wedding attire, and Rs 7,000 to the organiser per couple. Following the directive of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the total assistance has now been revised to Rs 1 lakh.
Dr MK Shanmuga Sundaram, Principal Secretary of the Labour and Employment Department, clarified that the scheme’s benefit will be applicable only for group weddings where at least 11 couples are married together.
This enhancement aims to encourage group marriages and provide better financial support to families of registered construction workers across the state.
