Kashi Vishwanath Dham witnessed an unprecedented number of visitors on a non-festive day, with 636,975 individuals visiting the temple on March 31. This figure not only sets a new daily record but also caps off a month of high attendance, with March seeing nearly 95.63 lakh devotees, the highest for any non-festive month.
Vidya Bhushan Mishra, the CEO of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, highlighted the significant increase in visitors compared to the previous year’s count of 37.11 lakh in March. He also noted that the attendance in March 2024 slightly surpassed the temple’s all-time high during the festive month of ‘Shravan’ in August 2023, which was 95.62 lakh.
The temple authorities stated that the daily average footfall of the temple has surged past 1,50,000 since January 31, a substantial increase from the 20,000 daily visitors before the temple’s renovation. On special occasions, such as Maha Shivaratri, the temple previously attracted over 2,50,000 devotees.

The month of March was particularly special as it set a dual record not only in the number of visitors but also in the amount of offerings received. Financially, the devotees’ offerings reached an all-time high, with a total of Rs 11,14,62,600 collected at Baba Darbar. This surpasses the prior record of Rs 8,11,21,619 from Shravan 2023 and notably, this sum does not include contributions in gold and silver, which would further augment the total.
