Farmers are set to receive much-needed relief from fertiliser shortages during the Kharif season as the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Department has announced plans to distribute over 14.70 lakh tonnes of fertilisers under the Kharif Abhiyan-2025 initiative. The distribution will include 9.62 lakh tonnes of urea, 3.46 lakh tonnes of DAP, and 1.62 lakh tonnes of NPK.

In response to past complaints of fertiliser shortages, which often led to long queues and chaotic situations at distribution centers, the department has also made reserve stocks available. These stocks include 59,690 tonnes of urea, 82,877 tonnes of DAP, and 35,535 tonnes of NPK. Monthly targets have been allocated to districts to ensure the smooth distribution of fertilisers.

The fertilisers will be distributed through cooperative societies, B-PACS societies, cooperative unions, CCDF, Central Consumer Store, PCF, Jute Union, Consumer Cooperative Union's sales centers, and Cooperative Potato Development Union. The distribution process will take place from the current month until September.

To further streamline the process, Commissioner and Registrar of the Cooperative Department, Anil Kumar Singh, has issued instructions to use Point of Sale (POS) machines at sales centers in accordance with Government of India regulations.

The monthly fertiliser distribution targets have been set as follows:

- April: 30,079 tonnes of DAP, 58,048 tonnes of urea, 13,037 tonnes of NPK

- May: 34,619 tonnes of DAP, 111,056 tonnes of urea, 13,037 tonnes of NPK

- June: 41,797 tonnes of DAP, 109,987 tonnes of urea, 25,709 tonnes of NPK

- July: 82,972 tonnes of DAP, 224,815 tonnes of urea, 31,820 tonnes of NPK

- August: 72,457 tonnes of DAP, 309,393 tonnes of urea, 30,963 tonnes of NPK

- September: 84,412 tonnes of DAP, 148,702 tonnes of urea, 47,756 tonnes of NPK

This distribution plan is aimed at easing the fertiliser supply chain, preventing shortages, and reducing the pressure on farmers during the Kharif season.
