A financially distressed real estate businessman in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, died by suicide after livestreaming an emotional video appeal on Facebook. In the video, he broke down while describing his inability to afford insulin for his diabetic daughter.

The man, whose identity has not been disclosed by the police, took his own life using a security guard’s firearm at his office.

Just moments before the tragic act, he posted a Facebook Live video pleading for help from celebrities and industrialists. In a tearful appeal, he spoke of the unbearable burden of mounting debts and financial stress, according to the NDTV report. 

He revealed that he was even struggling to arrange money for his daughter’s life-saving insulin injections, underscoring the desperation that led to his final act.

According to the NDTV report, by the time his family, who had seen the Facebook Live, alerted authorities and rushed to his office, he had already taken his life. Preliminary investigations confirm that the businessman had been under intense financial pressure, with debts amounting to several crores accumulated over the past few years.

A case has been registered under relevant sections, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the incident, including how he obtained access to the security guard’s firearm.

Lucknow Police ADCP Pankaj Singh issued a statement on the incident, confirming that the real estate businessman died by suicide using a security guard’s firearm. He said the man had been struggling with heavy debt for several years and was deeply troubled by the ongoing financial crisis, which ultimately drove him to take this tragic step.
